Description
Canada Commercial is an industrial sand filter designed for public pools and large private pools. It is made from fibreglass and polyester resins, and the shell is a single piece – the fibreglass layers are wound by hand and impregnated with resin.
Advantages
- a seamless shell made of fibreglass and polyester fibre, hand-wound in many layers;
- factory-tested with water at a pressure of 4 bar;
- works with both fresh and salt water;
- the inlet and outlet are flanged – easy to connect to high-capacity piping;
- a drain plug and a 3-bar pressure gauge are included, the stand is made of polypropylene;
- a dual pressure gauge is supplied only for diameters of 2000 and 2350 mm;
- the valve and the sand are purchased separately.
The shell is red as standard. Another colour can be produced to order, in which case the lead time is longer.

Sand, weight and dimensions
Letters in the drawing: A – base (diameter), B – height of the lower port, C – total height of the filter, D – distance between the ports, given only for Ø 1050 mm. The sand comes in three grades – fine, medium and coarse.

The versions with a plate have the codes FLT009-M and FLT040-M.
What to look for when choosing
What matters most is the area of the sand surface the water passes through and the height of the fill. The proportions of the tank – diameter relative to height – also count. Units with non-standard proportions filter less effectively.
Preparing and filling the filter sand
Before adding the sand, fill the tank with water to about half its height. This lets you see whether the filter bottom and the collector arms survived transport undamaged. It prevents the shell from cracking while the sand is poured in, and sand from getting into the collector and from there into the pool.
- Start with the coarsest grade, 3–5 mm, if one is provided for the model.
- Continue with the medium grade, 1.5–3 mm.
- Finish with the finest, 0.7–1.5 mm.
Add the water slowly so the layers are not displaced. The finished bed must end up with its top surface 10 cm below the upper collector, otherwise a large amount of sand may escape through the pipe. Do not connect a suction pump with higher ratings than the filter is rated for.
Applications
- public and spacious private pools;
- fresh or salt water;
- capacity between 25 and 217 m³/h depending on the model chosen.
Who should install it
Connection must be carried out by a qualified technician, combining the filter with a suitable pump and following a design for the construction, process, plumbing and electrical parts prepared by a licensed designer. The pump's power supply must be protected by a residual-current device (RCD), as required by the equipment specification. The buyer is responsible for correct installation, use and a sound electrical installation.
