Description
If water drips from under the filter lid, the culprit is usually a worn O-ring. This NBR 70 part, size 170×5, seals the gap between the two components and is suitable for many Mountfield sand filters.

When and how to replace it
Over time the rubber dries out, swells and even cracks, and the connection starts to leak or let air in. Replace the ring every time you open the lid and check its condition before the season.
- Switch off the pump and release the pressure in the filter.
- Unscrew the filter lid.
- Remove the used ring and clean its seat.
- Position the new ring, taking care that it does not twist.
- Screw it back and watch the connection for moisture.
The original ring has the exact size of the seat and does not shift under pressure – whereas universal versions often have a different thickness.
