Description
Pump humming but not turning? The most common culprit is a tired capacitor. This original Mountfield part has a capacitance of 16 µF and comes with a connecting cable and a metal screw for mounting.

Signs of a worn capacitor
Over the years a capacitor loses capacitance. The motor starts with difficulty, overheats or cuts out. If the pump does not start on its own, check the capacitor first – and do the same for any electrical servicing.
The new part has the same capacitance as the original, so the motor works within its specified limits. A value other than 16 µF can overload the windings, so do not fit a smaller or larger capacitor.
How to replace it
- Switch off the power and wait for the capacitor to discharge.
- Note down or photograph the wiring layout.
- Unscrew the fixing nut and remove the old capacitor.
- Fit the new one and connect the wires in the same way.
- Close the motor cover and switch the pump on.
Advantages of the original
- exact match with the original part
- fewer repeat repairs
- easy to identify by the manufacturer code
Tips
Always disconnect the power before any intervention. At the start of the season, check the seals and connections. Work with clean hands and without sharp tools, tighten evenly and inspect for leaks after start-up. Keep the old part until you are sure everything works.
Compare the part code with that of your appliance; the compatibility list is based on manufacturer data. The 8 µF and 6 µF capacitors are often replaced together, and in case of leaks, the mechanical seal of the Azuro 5 pump.
