Description

The Trilogy stone overflow grating looks like a whole stone strip with a single narrow longitudinal slot. It measures 50 × 24.5 cm with a height of 4 cm and a weight of 9 kg.

The water drains through the slot, while from above you see almost nothing but stone – the channel itself stays hidden.

How it looks and how it works

The grating has a rough surface; if you wish, it can be sandblasted for an extra charge. It comes in versions V1 and V2 – depending on the model of the overflow coping. The corner grating wraps around the corners of the pool, and radius gratings are made to order.

Available elements and versions

Available elements: straight grating 50 × 24.5 × 4 cm and corner grating. Two straight elements make one linear metre. Trilogy radius gratings are made to order. Note the version in the comment on your order. A sandblasted face instead of a rough one, as well as the double-chamfer V2 version (for Standard and Alto copings), is available to order.

Colours and surface

White, yellow, grey, pink and brick are made with a rough surface, or, for a surcharge, sandblasted. The dark shade Active is a separate option. The Platinum (Madreperla, Tahiti, Oceanic) and Crystal (Artic, Sahara, Tenerife) series are sandblasted. The colour on screen depends on the monitor – ask for a sample to see the exact shade.

Why stone instead of plastic

  • Non-slip reconstituted stone that blends visually with the coping and the paving.
  • The material is certified to UNI EN 13451.
  • It does not get very hot in the sun.
  • The colour range matches that of Carobbio copings and paving.
  • The versions cover the different overflow coping models of the brand; the joints are adjusted to the coping.
  • Made in Italy by a company with fifty years of experience.

Installation

  1. Choose the version according to the coping: V1 fits Spiaggia, V2 with two chamfers fits Standard and Alto, and V4 fits Medio.
  2. Before laying, coat each grating inside and out with a layer of Primer epoxy resin; the manufacturer insists on this.
  3. The element simply rests on the edge of the coping and on the support towards the paving, so it can be lifted when the channel is cleaned.
  4. Corner gratings go in the corners, and radius gratings along curved walls.
  5. Leave a gap of about 1 mm between the individual elements, bearing in mind the ± 5 mm tolerance on the dimensions.

Auxiliary materials

  • Primer (two-component epoxy primer): a 2 l tin treats approximately 24 m of coping, and a 5 l tin about 60 m.
  • Alimepox (white two-component epoxy resin) for the inside of the channel: a 2 l pack is enough for ~14 m, a 5 l pack for ~35 m.
  • Deter-AC for cleaning after installation is finished and Cibermac for seasonal maintenance, both in 5 l containers.

Maintenance

Lift the gratings regularly and clear the channel beneath them. Wash them with water and the manufacturer's cleaning products. Avoid a powerful water jet on the smooth areas, strong chemicals and de-icing salt.

What to know before you order

The material is a mixture of natural aggregates and pigments, so the shade may vary slightly between batches. The permitted tolerance on every dimension is ± 5 mm. Pale white, and sometimes brownish, stains may appear on the surface – so-called efflorescence, which is normal for cement-based products and fades over time. Inspect the goods on receipt and before you start installation.
